The Wanderings of a Spiritualist
Arthur Conan Doyle
Such an enjoyable book. This isn't so much about spiritualism but more about being a travel book. He rattles along with his wanderings and talks about the sea, the mountains, the land, the rivers, the flora and the fauna. From England he sails on The Naldera to Gibraltar, and further along the coast of Spain, to Marseilles in France, onto Egypt, down The Suez Canal and then across the Indian Ocean to Australia to address the people there in packed lecture halls. Amongst some psychic narrations he talks more of War, Philosophy, Theology, Cricket, Rugby, Wine, Australian Football, Prohibition, Sheep Shearing, R L Stevenson, The Maori, Astronomy, Buddha, Sea Snakes and so much more. He doesn't give accounts of his Spiritualist talks as such, he gives instead the statements of the press, both good and bad.
