Jonas Uhrig is a wanderer. Since the death of his parents he has been driven by the inexplicable need to stay on the move. Jonas is a freelance journalist, using this as an excuse to wander as he pleases. Along with his dog and best pal, Burke, a well-mannered and almost 'human' mutt who adopted Jonas, they travel around the globe hunting down stories. When Jonas stumbles upon a series of brutal crimes spanning the entire North American continent, he notices a disturbing connection with his own life. Now he must find the answer to why he is driven to wander, and the answers he finds lead him to some startling revelations. As he searches for clues and hunts down the killer, he meets a woman who has been searching for the same answers, Kate. They join forces to track the killer and soon notice that they, themselves, are being tracked by a mysterious figure, who could turn out to be their worst enemy or their greatest ally.
