California Senator Bryce Camshaw's daughter, Lisa Devalera, has vanished. While hiking in the California mountains, the nature photographer disappeared, and the dying senator wants some answers. He calls in private investigator Napoleon Fontaine for help, and Fontaine agrees to uncover the real circumstances surrounding Lisa's disappearance and presumed death. When a friend of Lisa's points Fontaine to a declining self-help organization, The Harmollenium Institute, that Lisa was involved with, Fontaine discovers that the Institute, reborn as Harmonescape, markets a new virtual imagination program called VISAGE. The new director has recently wrested control from the inventor of VISAGE, and Fontaine smells a cover-up. In his investigation, Fontaine crosses paths with sexy reporter Cara Andrade. Drawn together in their pursuit of the mysterious secret behind VISAGE, Fontaine and Andrade search for clues to Lisa's whereabouts. But they face a deadly nemesis, one that could spell disaster for everyone involved.
