Francis didn't know how long he'd been struggling in the raging flood waters of the MacKenzie River. After what felt like an eternity in the freezing cold river, he didn't think he could keep his head above the murky brown water anymore. He was so tired. As much as he wanted to survive, every fiber of his being was screaming, ?Give it up. You?re lost. Ronnie?s lost. Your life is over.? Francis sank into the water. He welcomed death. It was kind of blissful to end things this way actually. He was okay with drowning after all. It would never have been his first choice for a way to die, but then who said you got to pick? Really, this wasn't bad. At least he wouldn't have to struggle any longer.
