My Trip to New York City: a Child's Perspective
Micki Amos
When you are 6-years-old and growing up in the Tennessee Countryside, New York City can be a magical place. Everywhere you turn the sights, sounds, and smells assault your senses. The air is electrified, and excitement abounds. From playing in Central Park to going under the city in a speeding subway train to standing high atop the Empire State Building, the city offers a host of new experiences. Micki's observations and comments in this book come from the innocent mind of a young child. Her remarks such as "They did good. They didn't even crash!" (referring to the pilots of her airplane) and "I would have been sooo scared!" (referring to the immigrant experience) are made with sincerity. In September 2008, Micki and her Mamaw tasted a bit of Manhattan. "My Trip to New York City : A Child's Perspective" is the result of that trip. Telling their story has been educational and fun. Linda and Micki plan to publish more books in this US Trips series.
