Robbing a Turkish Bank in war ravaged Gallipoli of its hoard of gold was not the uppermost thought in the minds of two young Cumbrian farm workers when they joined the army in 1915. Returning from the Great War, via a spell in the trenches of France, they discovered that the seeds of adventure had been firmly planted and that quiet living in a rural backwater held no future for them. After much soul searching they returned to Turkey to retrieve the gold and continue down to Australia to live a free life.
