Trouble in Store
Jim Green
Sequel to "Matinee Wednesday and Saturday" this novella continues the exploits of serial dater Steve Rawlings after he leaves the theatrical profession and returns to Manchester to establish himself in a new career. He secures a position on the bottom rung of the publicity unit of a major retail store group and rapidly leapfrogs the ranks to become head of department. Along the way Steve is seduced by the formidable Miss Revlon and finds himself entangled with a rich young socialite. Out of the blue he receives a mysterious telephone call that seriously skews his comfort zone; a call that is to turn his future inside out. Steve is faced with a dilemma: should he take up an offer that would double his newly increased salary or settle for security and the prospect of continuing his meteoric rise to board level. His dilemma is intensified during a meeting with the store?s recruitment supremo where he realises he has been consistently brainwashed for the past year and is now in danger of falling down a rabbit?s hole from which there will be no escape if he allows himself to be sucked in and manipulated by imaginary fears and insecurities. To further complicate matters a new colleague enters Steve?s life; a luscious blonde who sends his pulses soaring?
