Seven Guns to the Border (Sackett Series) (Volume 8)
Raymond D. Mason
When the Bob Colton Gang robs a stagecoach bound for Tucson, Arizona and several people are killed, a posse is soon on their trail. In their attempt to make it to the Mexican border they run across two wagons headed for Tucson and lead by Brent Sackett. Sackett, however, was not with the wagons having gone ahead to check out the road ahead. When Brent takes a spill from his horse and hits his head against a large stone he suffers temporary amnesia. Brent is taken in by a homesteader and his wife, Ted and Virginia George, who nurse him back to health. Unable to remember who he is, where he is going, and very little about his past, Brent soon encounters new problems. One of the posse members on the trail of the Colton gang recognizes him from his days as a lawman in Crystal City, Texas. He also remembers that there are wanted posters on Brent, thus putting Brent on the run again. Meanwhile, the gang of outlaws commandeers the two wagons Brent had been leading to California, holding the occupants hostage. Back in Abilene, Texas the Sackett family is involved in a blood feud with one of their neighbors and the tension is mounting. When the angry neighbor burns the Sackett barn, the feud heats up until it becomes a shoot out. Mason has penned another page turner in his Sackett series of books. He is already working on the next book in the series.
