T. Buddy, Steeber, Link, Bollata, Bigelow, and Meekser are collectively known as the Gutter Gang, junior high school students who go about riding on their minibikes-and in the case of T. Buddy, go-cart-after school to engage in mischief and pranks to gain popularity and attract the attention of girls. This story follows T. Buddy as he struggles to balance school, girls, and fun in the form of practical jokes but particularly focuses on T. Buddy's relationship with Johnna, the girl of his dreams; his relationship with his older sister and sometime nemesis, Cathy; his relationship with his fun-loving dad; and his relationship with the Gutter Gang as they enjoy junior high school life, which includes going to and escaping school dances, riding around the neighborhood, and generally causing mischief-all the while trying to avoid getting caught by the local law enforcement.
