It's about a character Bon Mot, whose name was chosen as a witticism, who comes from a broken home in New York, tries to join Al Qaeda, but at the airport is intercepted by a sexual trafficker. For the next six years he is a sexual slave. Released from bondage he moves to Tampa to get his head straight. There he meets a prostitute, Harlot, and their relationship continues throughout with counseling from UU church and AA twelve seeps.
Bon is attempting to write a white paper on America's economy which divides his attention between that and Harlot.
Finally, Harlot dies from too much abuse and Bon takes to the woods to escape.
