The Marshall family takes roots in central Oklahoma, claiming their stake on April 22, 1889, during the first Oklahoma land rush of unassigned lands. Four generations later, Joe Marshall emerges from the small rural town of Crescent, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State University, to be acclaimed as one of the greatest baseball players of all time. Joe never wants to quit playing the game and would have played if they paid him or not. Faced with the end of his professional career in major league baseball, Joe develops a brand of baseball, which his friends call Joeball. This Joeball allows him and others to continue to experience the love of playing the game for a long time into their ripe old age.
