A hard life makes a hard woman... Zaire Washington grew up in Brooklyn, daughter of a drug boss. He was in and out of prison throughout her life, but when her mother died of cancer her father had to step in and finish raising their daughter - and Zaire's own baby girl, Amare. Amare's father, Benny, was a known hitter in Brooklyn and developed a beef with Zaire's father. He didn't spend much time with Zaire and Amare, but his love for them was undeniable. Zaire had dreams of a blissful future where the three of them lived together as a family, away from the drug game. All that changed when Benny was murdered in broad daylight. Zaire tries to keep her head right, balancing college and life as a stripper, but it all comes crashing down when her scumbag teacher gives her an awful choice: Want a passing grade?
