Karakesh is a beautiful kindom filed with magic and danger. There are the Grassmen who steal horses and leave your eyes burning with sneezie powder. The helpful travelers who are always kind and always on the move. There are the dwarves, guarenteed to put you to work in their dark mines.

Rami, Sada, and Miela are sisters destined to leave their small mining community - and their dangerous father, whose plans for their futures will leave them all working in someone else's home, married to a cruel man, or even dead.

Each must travel her own path. Each must find the magic that will lead them to an unknown future, that can only be better than the past they are leaving behind.
