The Glory B

In 1858, when Gracie Tipton left Nashville, Tennessee, on the long trail to The Pinery in the Guadalupe Mountains on the Texas and New Mexico border, she had no way of knowing how her life would change. Within two years, she was a wife, a widow, and expecting a child.

After coming to tell her of her husband, Jedidiah's death, her father-in-law, Hurricane Bailey, left in the dead of night, before Gracie could tell of his soon to be born grandchild. What would happen to Hurricane after losing his son to an Indian arrow? Would he turn into a bitter old man and go back to the alcohol which had sustained him all of his life? Where would the abusive man find the peace he'd needed? Was there any such thing in this world? He had to find the answer. The Black Hills of Nebraska Territory were calling him.

Because of his concern for his daughter, during her pregnancy, Jonathan Tipton schemed with Preston Stockton, a man Gracie and her father had admired on the trip West, to take her to his ranch, The Glory B, in the Glass Mountains for the baby to be born.

Realizing she loved Press Stockton, but not willing to say it, even though he'd once declared his love for her, she left with her father for the David Mountains, and the new Butterfield Station established there. Press came for her, and they were married.

Over twenty years have passed since the marriage, and some of Gracie's children are grown up and leaving the Glass Mountains. she decides to go on another trail, this time a longhorn drive to Abilene.

We'll join Soot, the lead longhorn and the Carter twins with Caleb's handsome son, Thomas. The Stockton's travel along with their children and cow-boys as they drive the herd from The Glory B to Abilene, Texas. Planning to retire from cattle drives, Press has given his oldest son, Jonathan, the important position of trail boss on the journey. what problems will he and the drovers have to overcome on the way? Will Gracie survive the trip?

Waiting in Abilene is Doctor Sarah, Gracie's friend from Nashville. Ruby Eliza is her nurse, and the ruggedly handsome new superintendent of the Texas and Pacific Railroad, Grant Bailey.
