The COUNT of MONTE CRISTO
Lee Smyth
Two lovers are separated when one is unjustly thrown into prison. He escapes, becomes unimaginably rich, and obtains revenge. It's a true story from the Archives of the Paris Police, and it inspired Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870) to write a French epic. Like England's Charles Dickens, Dumas serialized his novels each day in newspapers. Since he was paid by the word, his novel grew to contain 1,050 pages, 117 chapters, and forty major characters. Lee Smyth's re-telling captures all of the romance and the revenge from the Paris Police Archives. It's not a condensed version of the French novel; it's The Count of Monte Cristo - RE-IMAGINED.
