An apprentice radio personality gets his lucky break when the big time comes calling. Todd works his way to the top and becomes the biggest radio DJ in Northern California. Money and fame follow as Todd marries the woman of his dreams. Sara, their daughter, makes it the perfect family. But the dream comes to an end when a fatal car wreck takes Todd's family away. He falls into deep depression and alcohol takes over his life. He moves in with his sister to get back on his feet. After months of mental healing Todd's sister finds him a job at a one-man radio station in a Nevada farming community. Driving a beat-up car and living in a travel trailer behind the radio station, Todd meets a local tween girl with the personality of Bart Simpson. Todd and Marissa's friendship grows (with sarcasm) as the two are inseparable. Todd's memories still haunt him and so does his battle with the bottle. Lucky for him his new friend, who is old enough to be his daughter but acts like his mother, watches over him. The idea of Marissa hanging out with a drifter has her mother worried. She wants to meet Todd but working two jobs makes the meeting difficult. Todd, being the radio man, has a nightly radio show starring his alter ego Rock Spinner. Todd shows Marissa the ropes of the radio world and being the quick learner she is, she even cohost's the Rock Spinner Show. One night out of booze, thanks to his sister and Marissa, Todd hears a voice from the past telling him its ok. He cleans up after all his abuse. Marissa takes her mom to the radio station to meet Todd. They arrive at the station only to find Todd dead on the floor. Todd's sister soon arrives and the three encounter the biggest surprise of all their lives.
