The Anniversary
Aaron Otheim
The Anniversary by Janet Stimson [text and melodies] and Aaron Otheim [score] is a one-woman opera short about a woman coming to grips with her beloved husband's post-accident, vegetative state. After searching her heart, she is moved to set the patient free by unplugging the life-sustaining machines that keep him alive. Was it the right thing to do? The ups and downs of her emotional journey make for 20 minutes of riveting theatre. Meant for the lyric classical soprano voice, it can also be performed as a concert piece.
