He was editor of BBC TV's Question Time, worked for Zenith Productions which made Inspector Morse, Spitting Image, and for SelecTV which made Birds of a Feather and Lovejoy. James Hogan is also a painter. He painted most days from a very early age but stopped abruptly when he became traumatized by the death of his father, then his mother. In 2007 he returned to oil painting with an energy he has likened to the sexual drive of youth. He was educated at Oxford University, England where he wrote a thesis on counter-culture in society and art. His work as a painter has received tremendous critical acclaim and an public exhibition opened in Cork Street, Mayfair in 2010 attracted hundreds of people at the opening. He is the author of various books included the "Art Upstart," an autobiographical journey illustrated by over forty paintings.
