Melchizedek's men
Dr. Deidre Mcvey
The Catholic priesthood is under attack, not only for those involved in the sex abuse cases, but also for its existence as a way of life for religious men who take a vow of celibacy. Conversely, I am sometimes attacked as a woman and a divorced person, who is often falsely misrepresented. In a Utopian society where the distinctions among adults are tolerated, and people are judged on their individual morality and merits, neither of our roles would be oppressive; perhaps one day this will be a reality. In an effort to look at misperceptions caused by stereotypes, my memoir tells the story of a life torn apart by two divorces and put back together by priests. One among them has recently been involved in a scandal. Through the sacraments he, nevertheless, helped to transform my life. Why this mystery can happen is another rebuke of the Donatist heresy.
