After his single mom is murdered, young Dylan is moved into foster care and eventually adopted. But life's cruelty doesn't leave his life for long. When his adopted parents are arrested for drug trafficking, Dylan returns to the foster care system until he accepts a scholarship at UCLA and moves to California. After graduating, his life is dramatically changed by the contents of a briefcase he finds by the side of the road, and again when a strange woman reveals that he has a family.
