In 1983, at the age of sixteen, I entered the wonderful beauty industry, and immediately, I had a vision of owning a salon one day. I knew that owning a salon could not happen overnight, and I needed to have some experience before this dream could be fulfilled. Over the years, I was able to advance to different levels within the business. Many years of persistence led me from shampoo girl to assistant, assistant to stylist, and then from stylist to owner/educator. I want my passion for this business to motivate future hairstylists, or those already in the field, to explore many avenues within the fields of beauty and fashion. I will offer you ways to succeed as a hairstylist, cosmetologist, or salon owner, and I will provide suggestions, tips, and guidelines that I have learned along the way. This book will give you an insight to experiences that are unique to working in a hair salon environment. It has always been my desire to change lives through hairstyles and cosmetology, one client at a time.
