The material in this outstanding English language arts workbook has reading, listening, editing and writing tasks divided into units based upon general themes. The reading tasks involve different genres and styles. These include fables, narratives, information, biographies, letters, poems, and everyday type texts. While some questions are of the multiple-choice variety, others require written responses. The listening task asks students to listen as a story is read twice. The students may take notes as they listen. Then they are asked to answer some questions based upon the story they have heard. To answer the questions, students use different types of written responses. In addition to the various written responses to the reading and listening tasks, there is a longer written task to be done as well. Again, the tasks themselves require different types of writing. The writing tasks are related to the general topic of the unit. Teacher Guides provide suggestions for use, correct answers to multiple-choice questions, and suggestions for appropriate responses to open-ended questions. Great for home schooling!
