Talents - humans commanding the elements of fire, earth, air, water, light, shadow, and mind - appeared throughout the world. Naïve and innocent, most of the Talented were quickly seized by the powerful. They were registered and regulated and used as weapons, usually against each other. Then the Blackhawk Mercenary Company, an elite unit led by Colonel James Thurston, accepted the job of tracking down a few missing Talents - and unwittingly triggered events that would change the world.
