With the witches still on the hunt for her vampire boyfriend, and her mother coming back to town, Ember has a lot to deal with, and it's about to get worse. When a stroll in the haunted forest around the school brings her face to face with danger, Ember discovers a secret that changes everything she thought she knew about herself. She isn't human. She's just coming to terms with her new powers when her mother arrives with an old friend in tow, but Owen isn't who he used to be, and he's had his eye on Ember from a distance.
