Someone is killing private investigators in Central Oregon. Doing a pretty good job of it, too---although, in PI Hank Cassidy's case, they missed...narrowly. Fortunately, the cops are also doing their job, and before long, an arrest is announced. But just as Hank is peeling the bull's-eye from his back, a request comes from a most unexpected quarter, followed by an even more surprising offer of employment. Reluctantly accepting the offer, Cassidy takes to the highway, and is soon wheels-deep into a mystery---one which, frankly, he doubts even exists. An extreme longshot, by any reasonable reckoning. And if longshots are your thing, where else should you play them?
