Sarah Bonsignore's wonderful new series of beginner piano books is designed to get students playing with both hands in no time at all. Her unique chord shape method is a wonderful way for developing an internal ear for harmony, while also learning how to read notes, accompany melodies and begin to improvise. Book 1 is focused on the five note C major scale position, C major root chord, and F and G root notes in the left hand, as well as melodies that skip and jump. It covers intervals, note types, rhythm patterns and different time signatures. Sarah includes "rhythm language" charts the the end of the book, as well as large manuscript pages where students (with the help of their teachers) can begin to practice writing chords and melodies.
