This book continues the story of Gill Halloran. His gift of insight has matured into instinct. He and his family move to San Francisco where his morals, ethics, and life are challenged. His confrontation with the many faces of evil leaves him a changed man. He is forced to face his mistakes. The evil in him turns to fire that he uses to fight the evil outside him. In the aftermath he realizes he is not the man he thought he was. His hypocrisy has to be admitted for his life to continue.
