How do you know if you're on the road to enlightenment?

For Marlene Sinclair, this question has been haunting her since childhood.

She has sat with presidents, rajmatas, maharanis, and even a British royal. She has sat with elders of society, with children with no homes, and with the dying. She is the sum of these moments and of these souls. Her brushes with enlightenment occurred while on the back of a horse, seeing the clouds part to reveal Mt. Kilimanjaro, and in an ashram, sitting under the blazing Indian sun.

Her search for Truth put her on a Divine Path. Initiated into Transcendental Meditation (TM) as a child and Kriya Yoga in later life, her road through life has been anything but predictable. From the nightclubs of New York to Mother House in Calcutta; from the Howrah slums to the refugee-filled plains of Tanzania; from the Abode of Highest Peace ashram in India to the glitzy shopping malls of South Africa; Marlene has always been in search of gold, both the mineral hidden under the African soil and the purity hidden within her heart.

Join Marlene as she takes you on a whirlwind tour of her life, from the deepest despair to the highest moments of joy. Her memories of being an expat and the lessons she learned along the way will encourage you to tackle the obstacles and challenges you may face in your daily life.

She partly wrote this book to find some sort of perspective on her life so that she can find a way forward, not knowing where the road will lead her next. All she can do is believe the best is yet to come while praying under her breath, "Swami, Swami, Swami."
