My Relapse is a cynical tale of hope, determination, and dishonesty. Set in the San Bernardino Valley, it tells the story of young Doris Whitaker. Born in the affluent city of Redlands, she was forced to move to the ghetto by her father's death and mother's addiction. Tired of being poor and longing for Redlands, her journey back to her homeland is marked by humor, sadness and eventually success. Along the way, she changes her name, works more than a few disreputable jobs and gets involved with several shady characters.
