My Memories of Hardin-Simmons University Roy E Peterson
My Memories of Hardin-Simmons University

My memories of Hardin-Simmons University will stimulate memories for alumni and present students at HSU, but it is more than that. I wrote it as a great recruitment tool for use by the Admissions Office. The fun of being a student at HSU in particular is accented along with the academics and normal student life. For young adult males the stories are particularly relevant from the shaving cream fights to the selection of roommates. The story of Dam-It, the old dead dog mascot, is an HSU legend. The lessons learned in the final chapter certainly are relevant to everyone. I had a lot of lessons to learn the hard way. I never realized it more than when I wrote the material in the book. Some will find the poems in Sections 2 and 3 somewhat redundant, but they are excellent sound bites and instill images of key things about Hardin-Simmons and the activities associated with the institution. There is nothing greater than learning in a Christian environment where all the students are brothers and sisters in Christ and those that aren't are treated with respect. My life was enriched by my student experiences at Hardin-Simmons. Outstanding academics, a full student experience, close relations with the professors and a caring administration make HSU a top selection for a college or university. As the HSU song states, "Long live her noble cause."
