The 1995 AC/DC album "Ballbreaker" was produced by Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Slayer, Red Hot chili Peppers), who helped return the band to a rawer, more stripped-down. The recording process brought the band back to basics, focusing on live takes and minimal overdubs, which is a hallmark of Rubin’s production style.
"Ballbreaker" saw the return of drummer Phil Rudd, who had been absent from the band since 1983. Rudd's return is often cited as a key factor in the revitalization of the band's chemistry and groove.
Despite being a later entry in their discography, "Ballbreaker" is often celebrated for its return to the band's rock roots and is considered a strong example late-career album.
