Go: Organic Orchestra - Can You Imagine the Sound

In a career that just entered it's fourth decade, Chicago-born composer / musician Adam Rudolph has continued to be "a pioneer in world music" (The New York Times), fusing composition and improvisation, intuitive and intellectual, past and future, East and West. The lineup of the Go: Organic Orchestra comprises Rudolph and 46 musicians who perform Rudolph's compositions and are conducted by him. They hail from the U. S., Morocco, India, Japan, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Italy, Germany, and Russia and have training in a range of traditions including experimental, Europeanclassical, jazz, North and South Indian, Japanese and Middle Eastern music. The band is made up of 15 woodwinds (seven flutes, oboe, bassoon and six clarinets), a six-piece brass section, 15 string players, two guitars, vibraphone, piano, bass and six "world" percussionists. Among them are luminaries such as a Peter Apfelbaum, Steve Gorn, Ned Rothenberg, Graham Haynes, Charles Burnham, Jason Kao Hwang, Kenny Wessel, BrahimFribgane, James Hurt, J. D. Parran and Chris Dingman. This is the first release of the New York-based Go: Organic Orchestra, whose musicians have been developing Rudolph's concept with him in series of concert residencies at Roulette over the last four years. The band will perform November 7th and 21st at Roulette, where the album was recorded.
