Despite being a clear attempt to cash in on the retro lounge craze of the late 90s, this charming, seductive remastered 15-song compilation paints a perfect portrait of Dean Martin's soft and tender side. The mood is quiet and dreamy as Martin woos us with the kind of full-throated whisper that was his calling card. Although the accompaniment ranges from small jazz combo to large orchestra with strings, the settings are tasteful and understated throughout, even on the lesser-known toned-down version of 'Everybody Loves Somebody'.
