Esoteric surprises us once again with a legendary jazz album: “Last Date” by Eric Dolphy is a beautifully recorded live album that was originally released in early 1965 on Limelight Records. It was recorded on June 2, 1964, in Hilversum, shortly after Dolphy had settled in Paris, France, following a tour with Charles Mingus, with an invited group of recording engineers and studio staff serving as the audience. Dolphy is accompanied by the Misha Mengelberg Trio – one of the first recorded appearances for Mengelberg, Jacques Schols (bass) and Han Bennink (drums).

Esoteric's reissue of music masterpieces has attracted a great deal of attention worldwide. The uncompromising commitment to restoring and remastering the original tapes, as well as the use of Hybrid Super Audio CD technology to enhance sound quality, makes all Esoteric releases a must-have for all music lovers!

Limited Edition Hybrid SACD (Dual-Layer). Japanese pressing. The SACD layer also includes the mono versions of the six albums tracks. MUSICIANS Eric Dolphy (bass clarinet, flute, alto sax) Misja Mengelberg (piano) Jacques Schols (bass) Han Bennink (drums)

Recorded at the Hilversum, Netherlands, on June 2, 1964

We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
