Lars Winther Trio 1CD + 1DVD *** Lars Winther Trio is Nordic By Nature on new jazzrelease A young, promising Danish pianotrio released their 2nd album, entitled Nordic By Nature in 2007. The Danish Jazzfoundation has selected the trio for their ”Young Jazz Comets”-competition several times, and the trio has made an influence on the Danish jazzscene, also during the last years’ Copenhagen Jazz Festival. The trio has been playing together since 2003, and has played numerous concerts in Denmark. Lately also the international jazz-world has noticed the trio. The trio consists, apart from leader Lars Winther, of drummer/percussionist Victor Dybbroe and double bassplayer Jesper Thorn. They carry on the nordic sound of their live-recorded debutalbum from 2005, but this time both elements of rock, traditional jazz, free and latin has been invited along – all starting from the Nordic roots, as the tittle implies. The triomembers all seek out the possibilities in their instruments and uses, a.o., prepared piano, synthesizer, bass-loops and percussion – all these enter into a beautiful symbiosis with the trios natural sound. The album was recorded on the conservatory in Copenhagen in the winter og 2006-2007 and contains in total 14 of the trios own compositions: a CD with 12 tracks and a DVD with 8 video-recordings from the session – 2 of them only found on the DVD.
