Recorded live at Carnegie Hall in early 1963 - in an intimate setting with her trio of guitar/bass/piano and of course with Nina herself at the piano - this live album is a beautiful piece of early, raw, and emotional material from one of the most unique voices of 20th century jazz and pop. Covering tracks from Leadbelly and Pete Seeger, to Johnny Mathis, old English traditional ballads, and Israeli folk tunes, Nina Simone always drew inspiration from the farthest possible reaches. As one of the finest interpreters of songs ever, this live recording is further proof of the genius of the one and only Nina Simone.
